Invitation from ATS's sister society HND, the Croatian Nuclear Society:
Dear ATS Colleague,
We are pleased to announce the 12th International Conference of the Croatian Nuclear Society - HND (Former "Nuclear option in countries with small and medium electricity grids") which will be held on June 3-6, 2018 in Zadar, Croatia.
In view of good response and success of the previous Croatian Nuclear Society (HND) conferences, devoted to the needs and interests of countries that are interested in nuclear energy especially with small or medium nuclear systems and electricity grids, the HND’s 2018 conference in Zadar will serve the broader general purpose, concentrating on the current topics which attracted most interest before.
This is the follow up conference addressing the needs of this important and growing group of countries interested in nuclear power. The Conference will consider the nuclear option from the point of view of national energy strategy, resources, costs, technology, organisation, education, and environmental advantages. It will also focus on matters related to operational safety, fuel cycle, waste management, and decommissioning.
The important goal of the Conference is also to promote regional co-operation and exchange of experience in use of nuclear power and fuel cycle facilities among small or medium-sized countries with an interest in the nuclear option.
We cordially invite you to submit a paper to our Conference. The important dates are:
31 December 2017 Abstract submission
31 January 2018 Abstract acceptance
31 March 2018 Full paper submission
We will provide all further information about the Conference timely. Until then, you can follow us on the Conference website.
We are looking forward for your contribution and meeting you at the 12th HND's Conference in Zadar, European Best Destination 2016.

The present situation of nuclear energy in Europe asks for a continuing effort in the field of Education and Training (E&T) aimed to assure qualified workforce in the next decades.
The main aim of the ANNETTE project (Advanced Networking for Nuclear Education, Training and Transfer of Expertise) is to consolidate and better exploit the achievements already reached in the past and to tackle the present challenges in preparing the European workforce in the different nuclear areas, with special attention to continuous professional development, life-long learning and cross border mobility.
The ANNETTE consortium is committed to perform coordination and support actions coherent with the SET Plan Roadmap for E&T for the nuclear sector, tightening the links between the areas of nuclear safety/engineering, radiation protection, waste management and geological disposal at the same time, by better coordinating their contributions in the E&T fields. The transition from science to technology occurring in the fusion research environment justifies an additional effort to tighten the links with FuseNet, thus integrating the E&T effort on the fission side with common actions related to fusion.
This project receives funding from the EURATOM Research and Training programme under grant agreement N° 661910.
The European Commission (EC) has opened the calls for the last two years of the framework programme HORIZON2020 in the following main areas:
- ENERGY EFFICIENCY
- COMPETITIVE LOW CARBON ENERGY
- SMART CITIES AND COMMUNITIES
- EURATOM FISSION
The associations C-Energy 2020, NUCLEU2020 and Enterprise Europe Network are inviting to the brokerage event on 24th October in Brussels to find the consortium partners from industry and academia. The event is free of charge and the registration will be open on 21st August.
Please note the event is organised in conjunction of the EU Energy Infodays (23-25 October) organised by the EC.
