About the Symposium

The Nuclear Science and Technology Symposium was first held in 2016, which marked the 50th anniversary of the Finnish Nuclear Society. The Finnish Nuclear Society (FNS) was founded in 1966 to promote the knowledge and development of nuclear technology in Finland, and to help its members in exchanging professional experiences and knowledge and in deepening their professional skills, both in Finland and internationally. The first Symposium was held to both look back to see where the industry had gotten since  1950s, when Finand started looking into nuclear energy, and to the future to see where the industry is going.

The first Symposium was a major success, so it was turned into a tradition. Due to the limited resources of the Society, the Symposium is not held every year, but rather every three years. The previous Symposiums were held in 2016, 2019 and 2022. The 2025 Symposium will therefore be the fourth of its kind.

The Symposium brings together the research, industry and authorities, from Finland and abroad, for scientific presentations and company introductions.
